Giving back for Harvest

The guys at Scotts had a successful day celebrating their harvest lunch. We had food, music, games and readings. We gathered lots of food supplies to give to the Tonbridge food bank for people who may struggle to make ends meet and feed their families. We will always try and help others.

Baking a difference!

We had a lovely time on Wednesday raising money for Macmillan cancer support. We managed to raise over £200 and would not have been able to have done it without the support of our service users, parents, carers and the amazing team we had. The leftover cake was delivered to the local homeless shelter. Our guys did a splendid job working hard in the kitchen and serving the customers. We had lots of little ones join us and even had a visit from Yates the guide pup in training. Macmillan support families affected by cancer and we loved raising money for them. Thank you to all involved! The first Macmillan coffee morning but not the last!

We would like to say a massive congratulations to the newlyweds. They look lovely and celebrated their wedding at the St Philips Church in Tunbridge Wells.
They went onto Salomons where they had their first dance to “Just the way you are” by Bruno Mars and their guests were entertained by some of our guys in an Uptown Funk flashmob! Many happy returns!

Wake up call!

Sleeping Bags 1

We love to help out others and last week we managed to get a large amount of sleeping bags donated over to The Winter Night Shelter and the Maidstone day care centre for the homeless. It’s so easy to take for granted our basic essentials but these things are so important to people who are left homeless and need help and support.

Tonbridge Girls Grammar School & The Scotts Project Trust

signing girls blogFor over 10 years the trust and TGS have enjoyed a long collaboration. Every week we are invited to participate with a number of different sessions ranging from Photography master classes, Singing sessions and British Sign Language lessons to mention only a few.
The interaction between our students and the Scotts service users holds great value. As part of the International Baccalaureate all TGS students are required to engage in a range of service led projects. The Scotts Project offers our students the opportunity to learn in a real life situation. It takes away the fear of disability allowing the students to open their minds and celebrate equality.

We are very grateful for the opportunities offered to us by the trust and look forward to many more adventures.
